Registration open for Sept. 30 Business Connections event

The Walker College of Business will host its third annual Business Connections event on Wednesday, Sept. 30 in Peacock Hall.

The event, sponsored by the BB&T Student Leadership Center at Appalachian, will involve faculty, staff and business professionals in allowing students to take what they learn and apply it to the "real world" of business.

The full-day will consist of activities and events that will allow students to interact and network with more than 100 industry professionals. Practice interviews, workshops, and panel discussions are on the agenda, encouraging each attendee to "develop his or her brand."

During panel discussions and presentations, professionals will share advice on a wide range of topics including LinkedIn accounts, what not to say in an interview, internships, and many other topics that will offer students critical knowledge before joining today's highly competitive job market.

In addition to the lectures and events, students can visit corporate information tables during the career fair portion of the day, networking with company representatives and recruiters. Visiting recruiters will conduct interviews with selected students the following day.

"This is a great chance for students to line up their full-time career position or internship early," said BB&T Student Leadership Center Executive Director Michelle Boisclair. "With Appalachian's vast network of regional companies, Walker College graduates are ready for success."

More than 1,000 business students at Appalachian State University participated in the second annual event.

Free to students of all majors, students planning to attend the event are required to register online.
