Dr. Sandy Vannoy joined the Walker College of Business faculty as a lecturer in the department of computer information systems in 1998 and remained in this role until 2005. After achieving her PhD in Information Systems in 2010, Vannoy returned to the Walker College as an assistant professor.  She was named assistant dean for graduate programs and research in 2014 and was promoted to associate professor and associate dean in 2015. Vannoy was drawn to Appalachian State University and the Walker College of Business because of its student focus and sense of community. Prior to her career in academia, Vannoy owned a small software development company and held administrative positions in the healthcare and banking fields.

Vannoy's teaching and research interests involve the role of information technology in organizational decision-making and social dynamics. Her research has been published in journals including Information Systems Research, Communications of the ACM, the Journal of Global Information Technology Management, and Social Network Analysis and Mining. Vannoy is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and professional organizations including the MBA Career Services & Employer Alliance (MBA CSEA), Association for Information Systems (AIS), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).

Vannoy is the director of the MBA program, and has lead the Walker College's graduate programs team to implement two new programs during her tenure as associate dean, a master of science in applied data analytics and professional education.

Dr. Lakshmi Iyer became program director of Applied Data Analytics in the Walker College of Business in July 2017. Dr. Iyer is a professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems and Supply Chain Management. As program director, Iyer will lead the Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics degree program that Appalachian launched in 2016 to help bridge the gap between industry demand and skills in the area of big data.

Dr. Iyer most recently served as director of graduate programs in the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG). Under her leadership, enrollment in UNCG's information systems and supply chain graduate programs more than doubled. She was also instrumental in establishing an analytics concentration at the Master of Science in Information Technology and Management level as well as a graduate certificate in business analytics.

Dr. Iyer earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration with a major in management science and information technology and a minor in computer science from the University of Georgia, and she most recently served as director of graduate programs in the department of information systems and supply chain management at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Donna Lindabury received the outstanding staff award for the College of Business for 2013, which honors college staff members who exhibit dedication in service, innovation, workplace morale and service to Appalachian and the community. In addition to serving as Assistant to the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Research, Lindabury manages the MBA assistantship and scholarship programs, supports various research initiatives, and is the administrator of the college’s professional education programs. She began her career with the Walker College as administrative assistant in the Department of Computer Information Systems.

Kim Kirby is a 2008 graduate of the MBA program at Appalachian State University and holds a B.S. in Computer Information Systems with a minor in International Business, also from Appalachian State. In addition to overseeing student advising, Kirby coordinates career development and enrichment events to strengthen alumni and business networks and to increase diversity in our graduate student body. She also serves as the liaison for admissions and recruitment.

Wendy Deng was born and raised in northeastern China. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University in Shenyang China.  Deng immigrated to the United States in 1992 and received her BSBA in Accounting from the Walker College of Business in 1999. Upon graduation, she took a position as a financial analyst for International Business Machines Corp (IBM), where she worked for sixteen years. She serves as the primary student advisor for MBA students, in addition to offering support on budgets, marketing, and business practicums.

Ken White manages the student practicum and internship programs and provides career development support. Additionally, he works with MBA program assessment, and performs client and program development for the professional education program. White retired from a distinguished career with Mack Trucks and served as an adjunct professor teaching in Appalachian’s Hickory MBA Program prior to becoming professional development  coordinator. He earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Greensboro College, his MBA from the Walker College of Business, and MA in Higher Education from the Reich College of Education Appalachian State University.
