Two Appalachian State RMI majors’ paper recognized by CICA

Two Appalachian State University Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) majors, Charles Fisher and Christian Ferrara, have been named as national finalists in an essay contest held by the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) for their co-authored essay, “Alternative Risk Solutions: Captive Insurance for Cyber and Supply Chain Risk.”  Fisher and Ferrara traveled to the CICA international conference in Tucson, Arizona March 10-12 to compete with two other author teams to present their essay.  Charles and Christian placed third in the competition.

Fisher is a Junior RMI major from Charlotte, NC who will intern summer 2019 with CRC in Birmingham, Alabama.  Ferrara is a Senior RMI major from New Hampton, NY who has accepted a Rotational Development Associate position upon his May 2019 graduation from Appalachian with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina in their Durham office.  Both students also participate in the App RISE student research group lead by Appalachian’s Freeman Professor of Risk Management & Insurance, Dr. Lori Medders.
