Job Opportunities

If you’re looking for an employee who will make an impact in your company, a MBA graduate from Appalachian State University brings global knowledge, ethical reasoning, leadership expertise, professional skills, as well as high caliber business acumen.  The Appalachian MBA program gives you the flexibility to choose a graduate from one our seven career-oriented concentrations to match your business interests and goals. It’s a smart way to enhance your company’s institutional knowledge and expertise.

Because we offer rolling admission, students are actively involved in the job search and ready for employment throughout the year. Completing the job information form is great place to share your company’s potential job opportunities. You can also connect with Maureen Cathey, our graduate Programs Employer Relations manager in Business Career Services to discuss ways to post jobs and connect with outstanding graduate programs' students.

Business Practicum Request

Appalachian State University’s MBA program recognizes the importance of real world business experience before graduation. One of the way students gain business exposure is through a Business Practicum.  Students without managerial experience work directly with a business over a semester to assist them in solving a business problem or recognizing a business opportunity.  MBA students have gained valuable insights by working in the business practicum program, while student impact on organizations across North Carolina and beyond has been substantial with strong results for many small and larger businesses in logistics, food services, healthcare, hospitality, financial services, telecommunications, athletics, energy, retail, non-profits, utilities, and manufacturing, among others.

Organizations interested in working with a MBA student through the business practicum program should complete the Business Practicum Request Form.

Professional Education Program

In January 2016, the Walker College launched its professional education program, allowing the university to offer the same transformational experiences afforded to undergraduate and graduate business students, to industry professionals. The program, which allows for customizable content and formats, aims to fill the needs of our regional business community to develop leadership skills of employees and address specific, real-work challenges and opportunities.

Professional education is closely aligned with our mission to deliver transformational educational experiences that prepare and inspire individuals to be ethical, innovative, and engaged business leaders. The professional education initiative is being managed by Dr. Sandy Vannoy and the office of graduate programs and research.
