Dr. Sandra Vannoy is a professor of computer information systems at Appalachian State University and dean of the Walker College of Business. In February 2020, Vannoy became acting and then interim dean of the college until, after a national search, she was named permanent dean in April 2022.
Vannoy leads the college during a period of notable growth. As of 2026, business students account for more than 22% of the university’s total enrollment, and the Walker College is the largest business school by undergraduate enrollment in the UNC System. Under her leadership, the college expanded its offerings in Boone and Hickory, as well as through App State Online and Flight Path. New academic offerings were launched, including graduate and undergraduate concentrations in Artificial Intelligence (2025, 2026), a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity (2024), and a fully online MBA program (2020). Having previously served as associate dean for graduate programs and research, Vannoy was instrumental in implementing a Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics program in 2016.
Vannoy first joined App State's faculty in 1998 and is a two-time App State alumna, holding a BSBA and an MBA from the Walker College. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
