Amaya: Hello everyone. My name is Amaya Crawford. I am a current senior here at Appalachian State University, double majoring in International Business and Digital Marketing with a Spanish minor. I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. I went to South Mecklenburg High School, and here at App I am a Walker Fellow for the Walker College of Business and Marketing Director for Beans to Brew here at App State.
Question: What made you choose to come to Appalachian State and major in International Business?
Amaya: I chose to attend Appalachian State University because I was awarded the Dr. Willis E. Fleming scholarship. Ever since coming to campus, I have fallen in love with the Boone culture and the mountains and have loved every moment here. As far as International Business, I was fortunate enough to go to a dual language program school in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I fell in love with the Spanish language and culture, and ultimately knew that I wanted to travel and immerse myself in different cultures upon graduation.
Question: What international opportunities have you been able to experience during your time at App State?
Amaya: Since being at App, I have had the opportunity to study abroad and intern abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, leading up to my senior year. It was an amazing experience, where I was able to work alongside amazing colleagues and coworkers, but also immerse myself in the Argentinian culture and learn a lot more about their culture and how they go about their day-to-day. lives.
Question: What have you learned from your four years at Appalachian State?
Amaya: One thing that I have learned during my time here at App State, is to never be afraid to ask questions. The App State community has truly become my second home and you will encounter endless encouragement and support wherever you go. The professors here are truly one of a kind and are here to ensure your success and well-being.
Question: What advice would you give students who are interested in pursuing an International Business major at App State?
Amaya: For those considering the International Business program, I would say do it, because it opens the door to many incredible opportunities and experiences, and allows you to develop a diverse skill set and knowledge. If you do select the International Business program, do not be afraid to try new things and really put yourself out there. You'll be surprised with all that you can do and all that you'll experience.
