Tim Forsyth has been a member of the Walker College of Business accounting faculty since 1989, and served as chairman of the Department of Accounting from 2005 until August 2014, when was appointed acting associate dean for undergraduate programs and administration. Dr. Forsyth holds the Kenneth E. Peacock Distinguished Professorship in Accounting at Appalachian State University.

Prior to his career in higher education, Forsyth was a financial analyst and staff accountant for Litton Industries.

Dr. Forsyth's teaching interests are primarily financial accounting and managerial accounting. His research has been published in a variety of journals including the Journal of Business, Industry and Economics, the National Accounting JournalThe CPA Journal, the Financial ReviewIssues in Accounting Education, the Journal of Cost Analysis and Parametrics and others. He is a member of the American Accounting Association.
