Travel to Bermuda is the experiential portion of the spring semester course, FIN 4800 International Insurance Markets. We will spend one week in Bermuda at the end of the spring semester. Bermuda's economy is based on tourism and financial services. It is the largest domicile for captive insurers and home to some of the the world's largest reinsurance companies. During our time in Bermuda we will visit reinsurers, brokers, regulators, and historical sites. Most of our time will be in Hamilton, but the first few days will be at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS). BIOS is a research and educational institution focusing on our oceans and the changing climate. While at BIOS we will learn from experts in climate change and risk modeling.
