Cuba - International Business Seminar

Description

Students will participate in lectures at the University of Havana. These lectures will cover topics such as the history of Cuba and Cuba-US relations, the Effects of the Embargo, Sustainable Energy in Cuba, Entrepreneurship in Cuba, etc. These lectures will be linked to site visits to museums, government organizations, agricultural cooperatives, renewable energy agencies, etc. 

Courses

  • MBA 5020– International Seminar in Cuba (3 credits)
  • MBA 5030– International Seminar in Cuba (off-campus students) (3 credits)
  • BUS 4045 - Advanced International Business Seminar in Cuba (3 credits)

Credits (3 credit hours)

  • MBA 5020/5030 – This 3 semester hour course fulfills the international requirement for the MBA program and is an elective for the international business concentration. Prerequisite: Graduate status.
  • BUS 4045 - This 3 semester hour course fulfills  the ENT experiential course requirement, International Business major or minor electives (major, approved, required or other),  a COB elective or upper level elective and fulfills the Global Issues requirement .Prerequisite: 84 earned hours.

Cost:

Billable Program Cost: $3,850
Includes: airfare, in-country program transportation, lodging, international health and evacuation Insurance, program events, most meals, and OIED and CCS administrative fee.

Estimated Additional Student Cost: $400
Estimated costs include but are not limited to: immunizations, personal expenses, two meals not included in the program.

Dr. Martin Meznar is the Associate Dean for Global and Civic Engagement at Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business.  He was born and raised in Brazil, is fluent in Portuguese and holds both Brazilian and American citizenship.  He has led multiple student groups on short-term study abroad programs to Australia, Brazil, Malawi, Ecuador, Turkey, Cuba, and Russia.
