Norway - Sampling Sustainable Tourism through Norway - HOS 3045

Program Dates
Sunday, May 25, 2025 to Friday, June 6, 2025
Description

This 12-day program will start in Oslo and end in Tromsø, with stops in Trondheim and Bodø.  Each locale provides a unique learning experience in the field of Sustainable Tourism. Moving from urban to rural areas, coupled with academic and entrepreneurial settings, will expose students to numerous sustainable tourism campaigns, successes and points for improvement.  From sessions in the classroom at Nord University, to snorkeling for conservation efforts in Tromsø, followed by avian conservation efforts, this trip is surely a once in a lifetime experience!

  • Join us to participate in regenerative tourism directly, including assessing the health of the kittiwake population, a native bird of Norway, removal of invasive sea urchins to restore the kelp forest and snorkeling in Tromsø to observe a species of fish (Wolffish).

  • Visit both urban and rural communities in Norway.

  • Experience Norwegian culture and language in academics, rural, urban and entrepreneurial settings.

  • Learn about blue and green growth.

  • Meet with entrepreneurs in the private, public and government arenas to get  a much needed "big picture view."

  • Sustainable Architecture in Trondheim.

  • Collaborate with sustainability students in Trondheim.

  • Restoring native kelp populations in Tromsø.
