Accelerated Master's
NOTE: Current Appalachian State University undergraduate students who complete their undergraduate degree in any major with a 3.5 or higher GPA can apply to the MSADA program and have their GRE or GMAT waived. They follow the normal admission process but request a test waiver.
The Accelerated Master's (AA) to the MS in Applied Data Analytics Program (MSADA), allows current Appalachian State University undergraduate students from any major in their senior year to take graduate-level coursework to both forward count toward their MSADA here at ASU and backward count toward their undergraduate program. This program is very competitive and is open to rising seniors at Appalachian State University who wish to get a head start on their MSADA during their senior year (A student must reach 90 hours before they take graduate-level courses). Eligible students are those who:
Have a 3.5 GPA at the time of application and at the time of graduation.
Are ready as seniors to take graduate coursework (must have completed 90 hours by the end of the nomination semester)
Submit a completed application through the Graduate Schools Website
Is the GRE or GMAT required for Accelerated Master's?
Admitted Accelerated Master's students are not required to take the GMAT or GRE; however, if they choose not to take this exam, they should also know they would not be considered for any University-wide graduate school scholarships. If a student has an interest in applying for a graduate school scholarship, they must have either a GMAT or GRE score. Regardless, the student would certainly be permitted to apply for regular MSADA scholarships or graduate assistantships through the MSADA program with or without scores.
Accelerated Master's Application Process
Prospective students should email Dr. Jason Xiong (xiongjj@appstate.edu) and express their interest in the AA Program. Within this email, the student should include a copy of their resume as well as a copy of their unofficial transcripts so that Dr. Xiong can review them and let the student know what, if any, prerequisites they would need upon admission to the program.
