Two Walker College alumni join Appalachian’s foundation board James K. Reaves '93 FIN and C. Hunter Widener '95 MGT were among four new members recently elected to the Appalachian State University Foundation Board of Directors. They joined Jane M. Edmisten of Washington, D.C. and Charlene W. Walker graduates honored by Appalachian Alumni Association Wayne L. Sumner '75 MGT and Scott K. Lampe '94 ACC were among four people honored during the recent Appalachian Alumni Association Alumni Awards Gala. Walker alumnus establishes new COB scholarship A proud Walker College grad, and member of Appalachian State's 1989 national championship cheerleading squad, so loves his alma mater he's established a scholarship to help future students pursue their college goals in Boone. M. Lee Barnes Jr. '90 MGT, president of the Durham-based Family Fare convenience stores, has created the Lee Barnes Scholars Program. Walker grad among the last troops to leave Iraq Posted on Jan 24, 2012 in Dean Sanders '86 MGT is home.The lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves - and a financial planner as a civilian - was among the last troops to leave Iraq as combat operations there ended late last year. He had two tours. During the first, in 2006, he helped train Iraqi secuirty forces. The second a couple years later was spent working as a civil affairs officer.
