MBA Alumni Highlight: Chris McLennan

Chris McLennan '07, '08 is an assistant attorney general for the North Carolina Department of Justice.

Born and raised in Chapel Hill, NC, Chris earned a BSBA in marketing in 2007 and his MBA in 2008 from Appalachian State University. While at Appalachian, Chris met his wife, Abbey, whose degree path mirrored Chris' own.

Together, the McLennans left Boone for sunny Florida, where Chris completed a Juris Doctorate at Florida Coastal School of Law. Graduating first in his class of 455 candidates, Chris left Florida Coastal having published a scholarly article, "The Price of Justice: Allocating Attorney's Fees in Civil Litigation."

Today, Chris and Abbey take pride not only in their Appalachian family, but also in their sons, Dean and Elliot. Having since returned to North Carolina, Chris serve as a services to state agencies associate for the Justice Department and volunteers as a judge for local mock trial competitions. Abbey is the human resources lead for the Gillings School of Public Health at Appalachian's sister institution, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
