The laptop requirement applies to students entering the Walker College of Business in Fall 2022 and beyond. Students previously admitted to the Walker College of Business do not need to purchase a new computer.
Laptop Requirement
Students are strongly encouraged to purchase a Dell laptop from App State's University Bookstore Computer Shop. These computers are discounted with academic pricing. All Dell computers come with a three-year premium warranty. Our IT Technology Support Center has Dell and Apple certified technicians to assist with any warranty work and can provide a loaner to students if their computer needs repair.
Wherever you purchase a computer, the following minimum specifications are required for WCOB students. Some departments have a computer recommendation that is higher than what is listed below, so check your departmental website to see what they recommend.
Apple computers are not recommended for business students. However, if you have an Apple computer, it needs to be able to run Windows OS. This can be done in various ways. Chromebooks are not recommended and will not meet the needs of most courses that have a computer or software component.
