AITP club wins eighth consecutive Student Chapter Outstanding Performance Award

AITP logoAppalachian's Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) student club has received an AITP Student Chapter Outstanding Performance Award for 2014-2015.

Appalachian's AITP student chapter has received the honor annually since 2007, making this the eighth consecutive award.

The performance award is given to those AITP student chapters which meet or exceed requirements in five areas: education, membership, public relations, meetings and association participation.

Only four universities out of more than 200 AITP student chapters across 45 states were selected for 2014-2015.

Each spring, Appalachian's AITP chapter participates in the AITP National Collegiate Conference. The 2016 event will be held in Chicago April 7-10.

AITP members will also attend the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January 2016.

AITP is also active on campus. The group brings industry guest speakers to campus each Wednesday to provide real-world advice to students and to inform them about job and internship opportunities. The club also holds weekly committee meetings on Tuesdays, during which students participate in subcommittees including fundraising, marketing and event planning.

More information about the Appalachian chapter of AITP is available online.
