Recent Dean's Update
Last week I visited Edinburgh, Scotland, for AACSB’s International Conference and Annual Meeting -- an event that helps keep the Walker College current on the trends and initiatives shaping business education worldwide. I was impressed by how our peer schools are adapting to changes affecting business education -- such as the changing workplace, shifting student expectations, and the increasing importance of social impact and helping to create solutions to the world’s most difficult problems. I’m proud that Appalachian is at the forefront of these innovations. This Friday, we welcome Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi to campus to serve as our Boyles lecturer and our Global Opportunities Conference keynote speaker. His visit is part of how we are preparing our students to meet the needs of the 21st-century business world and create solutions with larger social implications. Mr. Satyarthi’s 10:00 a.m. address will inspire you to Make Positive Changes in the World. You’re also invited to a reception following the one-hour lecture. Both events are in the Schaefer Center and are open to the community. Please join us, and bring your friends.
