Accounting alumna named Blue Ridge Energy CEO

Appalachian State University alumna Katie Woodle '05, '06, has been named Blue Ridge Energy's chief executive officer. 

Woodle served as the organization's chief financial officer from 2012 until March 2025.

As CEO, Woodle succeeds Doug Johnson '77, who will continue until the end of March 2025 and then serve as a transitional consultant through June 2025, when he retires.

Both Woodle and Johnson are App State alumni and serve in advisory capacities to the university. Woodle earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the Walker College of Business in 2005 and 2006, respectively. She is a member of the Beaver College of Health Sciences advisory board. Johnson earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the Walker College and serves on the university's Business Advisory Council.
