Accounting club earns 'superior' status from international organization, Beta Alpha Psi

Appalachian State University's Epsilon Kappa chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) has achieved Superior status for the past academic year, marking the 41st time since the chapter's founding in 1978.

BAP is an international honorary organization for financial information students and professionals, and App State's Epsilon Kappa chapter is regularly honored.

"Recognition as a Superior Chapter is a significant accomplishment... the Epsilon Kappa Chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism, and leadership," said Dr. Mark Myring, 2023-2024 Beta Alpha Psi President.

App State's BAP chapter requires members to be of good moral character who have achieved scholastic and/or professional excellence in the field of accounting, including an overall and accounting GPA of 3.0.

BAP connects students to professionals and employers. Here, Gould Killian presents to BAP members about “accounting firm mergers and acquisitions."

Membership benefits are significant. "I had plenty of offers lined up and ultimately my decision was 100% BAP’s power to get the firms’ attention," said an App State BAP member. "I literally got the industry I wanted, the team I wanted, and two internship offers from a firm because I was in BAP..."

Dr. Brian Hasson, who serves as a faculty advisor to the group, said the students are well deserving of the attention they receive.

"They are a great group of people and students," said Hasson. "Watching them grow through the process of being involved in the chapter's operations is most satisfying."
