Accounting students attend IMA event, focus on emerging issues

A group of fourteen Walker College of Business students enrolled in Cost Accounting 3200 attended an Accounting Student Night at the Lake Hickory Country Club on September 20. The event was sponsored by The Catawba Valley Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).

The students who were given the opportunity to attend had particular interest in managerial and cost accounting.

At the event, the chapter presented a program on emerging issues in accounting, as well as information on scholarships and opportunities that are available to local students.

The students were able to travel to this event because of Walker College professor Kim Zahller’s involvement with IMA. Zahller, a member of IMA, stated that the institution has a strong tradition of student involvement and support.
