Alumnus named UNC System vice president for academics, faculty and research

The University of North Carolina System recently announced that Walker College of Business alumnus David English has been named its vice president for academics, faculty and research, effective May 1.

Previously, Dr. English has served as the executive vice chancellor and provost of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) and, before that, as UNCSA’s vice provost and dean of Academic Affairs. He was selected as Appalachian State University's Young Alumni Award Recipient in 2018.

Dr. English attained a BSBA in management and computer information systems, a BA industrial technology and an MA in higher education administration while at Appalachian State University, before earning his Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy analysis from North Carolina State University.
