Appalachian students earn awards during PBL National Leadership Conference in Atlanta

Six Appalachian State University students recently traveled to the Peach State to CONNECT with top future business leaders and showcase their talents as they vied for the opportunity to win more than $92,000 in cash awards.

The Appalachian students were among 1,700 of America's best and brightest college students who attended the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference June 24–27 in Atlanta.

Participants enhanced their business skills, expanded their networks and participated in several of the 60 business-related competitive events. Competitors were qualified through success in previous competitions during their respective state leadership conferences.

The students brought back four national awards to Boone.

  • Junior marketing and management double major John Vines earned fifth place in Business Presentation.
  • Vines, along with Risk management and insurance junior Madie Roach, also earned seventh place in Integrated Marketing Campaign.
  • Junior accounting major Abby Young earned fourth place in Future Business Executive.
  • International business junior Tim Bethea earned fourth place in International Business.

Additionally, marketing minor McKenzie Worley was elected as the Southern Region Vice President to serve 2016-2017.
