Appalachian's MBA Program selected and recognized for partnership with North Carolina Small Business and Technology Center

The Walker College of Business MBA Program has been selected and recognized for their partnership with the North Carolina Small Business and Technology Center (SBTDC) of Hickory, NC.

Scott Garman, owner and operator of Foot Solution in Hickory, NC commented that "the students thinking and strategy has propelled my business to a new level with a new brand, image, real estate location strategy and ultimately far better business results. They were the 'spark plug to re-launch my business."

Additional engagement with CommScope, a multi-national company that manages wired and wireless network across the globe has also been highly successful. Walker MBA students have helped re-shape their global learning strategies. David Hartsoe, Director of Learning, commented "the ASU MBA and Graduate HR students have had a huge influence in not only monetizing our training impact but also enhancing global on-boarding of new employees and creating a new performance management training process."

Commscope logoThis unique partnership has garnered national attention with the SBTDC. In September, Tim Bailey, MBA Practicum and Internship Instructor at Appalachian, and Byron Hicks, Center Director for the Hickory Region of the SBTDC, presented their experiences, processes, student engagement opportunities and management techniques of company clients at the national meeting for the Small Business Administration.

These distinct experiences and engagements build the capabilities of Walker MBA graduates and expand their knowledge and readiness for careers after graduation.
