In the news: Barnhart receives LEDA’s first 'Her Legacy of Leadership' Award

Michelle Barnhardt, a special faculty member in the Department of Management, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Her Legacy of Leadership Award.

The award is presented by the Lincoln Economic Development Association (LEDA) to recognize women in industry who demonstrate exceptional leadership, mentorship, and service across industry and community.

In addition to teaching classes in the Walker College of Business, Bardnhardt is a human resources manager at Timken Company, a global manufacturing company. At Timken, Barnhardt has "built a culture centered on inclusion, integrity, and collaboration, empowering her colleagues to grow both personally and professionally" and leads the Celebrating Abilities Network. She also chairs the United Way of Lincoln County, where she has achieved a 238% rise in community funding to support essential programs and services across Lincoln County.

“Her leadership style is grounded in compassion and authenticity,” said Anna Mullen, Existing Business Manager at LEDA. “She brings people together with purpose, turning challenges into opportunities and inspiring others to believe in their own capacity for impact. Her influence can be felt in every corner of this community.”
