Big things ahead for Brantley Center students

Students in the Brantley Risk & Insurance Center are "business as usual" this spring semester.

Appalachian State University's Risk Management Challenge team has qualified as one of the 8 out of 21 finalist teams for the RIMS Conference in San Diego. The RIMS Conference is an industry-leading event that features three days of world-class educational sessions, inspiring keynote speakers and an Exhibit Hall packed with innovative resources. The team will defending their championship title at the April 10-13 event by presenting their case analysis on The LEGO Group.

Additionally, a contingent of students and faculty recently traveled to Charlotte to attend AAMGA's University East Conference. The annual conference provides educational and professional development sessions to help students gain cutting edge knowledge about the industry. It also helps student advance in their underwriting competencies through classes and workshops.

Other Brantley Center students will be participating in Insurance Jeopardy in Greensboro on March 18 as part of the NCSLA'S Annual Conference. This event will allow students from ASU, ECU and UNCC to be tested about their knowledge of basic insurance terms with an emphasis on the E&S segment of the industry.  The students from Appalachian won the most recent 2014 Insurance Jeopardy event. During this Conference, students will also be presenting on the experiences of their recently completed journey to London over Spring Break.

"We have big things ahead of us," said Karen Epermanis, Director of the Brantley Risk & Insurance Center.
