There is a new student-led club on campus this semester seeking to get students interested in studying abroad! Chase Price a senior International Business major and Teige Arnott a Senior Hospitality and Tourism Major noticed after studying abroad in the Spring of 2015 that an ambassador program would be extremely valuable to Appalachian students.
Chase Price’s experience in Seville, Spain and Teige Arnott’s experience in Bangkok, Thailand gave both students a broader perspective when it comes different cultures and business practices in a different context than the U.S. The two seniors decided to leverage their own unique experiences into creating and organizing a new resource for Appalachian students. This club will provide students with questions on international study abroad opportunities a way to gain valuable information with a personalized touch from fellow peers.
The club has been named Appalachian State OIED Student Ambassadors. Ambassadors for the club will meet with OIED to develop ways to get students interested in going abroad by going to classes, clubs, and organizations to speak about all of the study abroad opportunities across campus. The ambassadors would also be able to help students with the intense planning process for going abroad.
Students who have previously studied abroad for a semester or longer can get involved through applying online on the OIED office website page. Both seniors hope that the program will evolve into a prestigious organization on campus and can make a difference in influencing students to study abroad during their college career. This program is in full swing this semester with the hopes that students who have studied abroad in the past will step forward and provide additional insights on studying abroad to interested individuals. If you are thinking about studying abroad, please reach out to this organization with any and all questions you have.
If you have studied abroad in the past and have questions about becoming an Ambassador, please notify Teige Arnott (arnotttg@appstate.edu) or Chase Price (priceca1@appstate.edu). To access the application, click here.
