North Carolina Retail Merchants Association anticipates holiday shopping season
The Center for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (CERPA) at Appalachian State University has released its latest economic analysis, which bodes well for North Carolina retailers.
In collaboration with the North Carolina Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA), CERPA studied the anticipated total retail sales for the 2024 holiday season.
Study Results
The results project a slight overall increase ($42.24 billion, up from $42.08 billion in 2023) and a more robust December (2.2% increase over last year).
“The partnership with NCRMA underscores CERPA’s commitment to providing actionable insights for industries navigating complex economic landscapes,” said Dr. Ash Morgan, CERPA director. “By helping develop precise forecasts, we support government, organizations, and businesses.”
Morgan and App State associate professor of economics Dr. Imran Arif worked on the NCRMA study.
CERPA’s research extends beyond retail sales. Its ongoing projects examine regional economic development, workforce trends, and sustainability initiatives.
