Das named director of Appalachian State University’s MBA program

Dr. Neel Das has been named director of Appalachian State University’s MBA program.

Dr. Das, a professor in the Walker College of Business’ Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, joined Appalachian’s faculty in 2007. 

As the MBA director, Dr. Das will lead all aspects of the MBA program, including strategic planning, curriculum review, admissions and daily operations. Along with MS in Accounting Director Lynn Stallworth and MS in Applied Data Analytics Director Lakshmi Iyer, Dr. Das completes the leadership team in the Walker College’s Graduate Programs and Research Office, serving with Dr. Tim Foryth, acting dean of graduate programs and research. Dr. Das brings a wealth of experience from past appointments as well as through his work as a faculty member here at Appalachian,” said Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Research Tim Forsyth. “He will provide outstanding service to Appalachian’s growing on-campus MBA program and its new online program.”

Dr. Das also holds an appointment at the University of Angers, France, as part of Appalachian’s Angers Summer Business Program, a role he has held since the program’s inception in 2013. Dr. Das taught MBA classes at the Institute of Management Technology in Ghaziabad, India and at the Calcutta Business School in Kolkata, India. 

Dr. Das’ research interest is in the area of consumer decision-making with a focus on investigating consumer donation behavior and the promotional practice of cause-related marketing. He has published in multiple marketing journals and is on the editorial review board of several esteemed marketing publications. 

Dr. Das holds an undergraduate commerce degree from St. Xavier's College, India, a Master's degree in accounting and taxation from the University of Calcutta, India, a post graduate diploma in business management and finance from the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management, and a Ph.D. in marketing from Louisiana State University.
