Free tax help available for students, faculty and staff

The Department of Accounting is operating a free tax help lab for Appalachian State University students, faculty and staff. The department is part of the university’s Walker College of Business.

Beginning February 5, this assistance will be offered in Room 4015 of Peacock Hall from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through April 16, 2019. No appointment is necessary.

The lab will be closed during the university’s spring break, March 4-8, 2019, and in the event the university is closed for inclement weather.

The volunteers staffing the lab are Appalachian accounting undergraduate and graduate students who serve as IRS-certified income tax assistants.

The lab is directed by accounting professor Dr. Mary Ann Hofmann. Hofmann and the student volunteers will provide tax return preparation assistance and advice.

For more information about the lab, contact professor Hofmann at hofmannma@appstate.edu.
