Hunsinger earns QM certification for MBA course in business analytics

Scott Hunsinger, a professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business, has attained the Quality Matters (QM) certification for MBA 5533* — Introduction to Business Analytics and Information Systems.

The course will introduce students to the foundations of Business Analytics and Information Systems (IS). Students will utilize spreadsheet technology to apply business analytics concepts such as extracting information from data, creating data visualizations through charts, performing data modeling with pivot tables, along with using other tools in order to solve business problems and to support managerial decisions. Students will also become familiar with the conceptual and technical foundations, components, and capabilities of IS.

Dr. Hunsinger’s course is the fifth MBA course to achieve this certification and the 14th course overall at Appalachian to do so, making the Walker College home to one third of the university's QM-certified course offerings.

“Thank you [ Dr. Hunsinger ] for your commitment in putting forth this effort in support of our MBA program," said Walker College of Business Dean Sandra Vannoy. "We are moving closer to having a fully certified program, thanks to our faculty!”
