Lewis named chairperson for Department of Management

The Department of Management in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business has named Mark Lewis as its new chair, effective July 1, 2021.

Dr. Lewis is an associate professor in the department who joined Appalachian’s faculty in 2011. Dr. Lewis co-Founded Appalachian’s Innovation and Design Cooperative (IDC) and co-Directed AppLab, an interdisciplinary program using design thinking to develop sustainable solutions to real world problems. In the Walker College, Dr. Lewis teaches courses in strategy and design thinking. 

"Dr. Lewis will bring to the role a wealth of experience in teaching and research as well as a passion and skill set for cultivating innovation,” said interim business dean, Dr. Sandra Vannoy. “I look forward to working with Dr. Lewis as a member of the leadership team in the Walker College.” 

Dr. Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and an MBA, MS, and PhD from Georgia State University. He will take over the role from Dr. Heather Dixon, who has served as chair since 2018.
