MBA Alumni Highlight: Abbey McLennan

Abbey McLennan ‘08 is a Human Resources Team Lead with UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, the number one public school of public health in the United States.

Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Abbey earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Marketing in 2007 and her MBA in 2008 from Appalachian State University.  While attending freshman orientation at Appalachian State, Abbey met her future husband and fellow MBA graduate, Christopher McLennan ‘08.

Following graduate school, Abbey became the HR Coordinator for the World Golf Foundation.  Her position provided HR consultation across the Foundation’s three divisions: The World Golf Hall of Fame, The First Tee, and Golf 20/20.  During this time, she earned her professional certificate in human resources.

The McLennans returned to North Carolina in 2012, where Abbey began her career providing HR services and support in higher education.  She served in a consulting capacity across the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health for four years before being promoted to HR Team Lead.  She now oversees a team of four HR Consultants, who assist in managing all HR functions for over 1500 staff and faculty.
