MBA Alumni Highlight: David Labiak

David Labiak '95 is president and chief investment officer of Trent Capital Management, a Registered Investment Advisor located in Greensboro, NC and Lexington, KY.

As chief investment officer, David is responsible for equity evaluation and research, stock selection and asset allocation. He is also responsible for implementing strategic planning, regulatory compliance and assumes many client-related responsibilities including portfolio reviews. Prior to joining Trent Capital, David was employed by Belk Stores Services in their audit department. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and earned his MBA from the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University. In August 2000, David received his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and he is a member of the CFA N.C. Society.

A native of Clemmons, NC and currently residing in High Point, David is active in his community, serving as chairman of the High Point Elks Swim Team, as a volunteer for Triad Golden Retriever Rescue, and as a member of the finance committee at Covenant Church United Methodist.

Both David and his wife, Holly '95, credit the MBA program and their dedicated professors, several of which are still at Appalachian, for getting their foot in the door of the jobs they still currently hold 22 years after leaving Boone.
