Mary-Louise Roberts '83 is a Business Banker at First National Bank in Boone, NC. First National Bank, formerly known as Yadkin Bank, is a registered NYSE company that offers diversified financial services for commercial and consumer customers alike. Roberts, a Vice President, has been with the bank for 17 years in various roles from Business Development Officer, to Retail Sales & Service Manager to Market Executive to Business Banker.
A native of Lenoir, NC, Mary-Louise is a two-time graduate of Appalachian State University, having earned her BSBA in Management in 1981, and an MBA in 1983.
After graduate school, Mary-Louise joined Wachovia Bank and worked in Morganton, Statesville, Durham and Research Triangle Park, NC before moving to Boone with her husband in 1990. She worked at First Citizens Bank for 10 years and then joined High Country Bank, a newly formed community bank started by Appalachian Finance Professor Harry Davis and others in the community. Seventeen years later she is still working at the same bank (even though the name has changed a few times), serving commercial clients.
Mary-Louise serves on the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Foundation Board and its Finance Committee, Appalachian State University Finance Banking & Insurance Board and as a Mentor, Women's Fund of the Blue Ridge Member, Boone United Methodist Church Women's Education Scholarship Fund Treasurer, Boone Optimist Club Member, Foscoe Ruritan Club Treasurer, Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Member, and Watauga Women in Leadership Member.
