Fifty Walker College of Business students were recognized as candidates for graduation (May and August 2016) with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Appalachian State University during a hooding and awards ceremony on May 13, 2016.
Robert Johnson, Director of Operations and Clinical Integration at Appalachian Regional Healthcare System, served as the keynote speaker at the event. Johnson is a graduate of Appalachian's MBA Program. Johnson shared his story with the attendees and advised graduates that perseverance will ultimately lead to their success. MBA candidate TC Diddle introduced Mr. Johnson.
Walker College of Business Dean Heather Norris and Walker College Associate Dean of Graduate Programs Sandy Vannoy hooded the graduates. During the event, Dr. Vannoy also bestowed awards on several individuals for high academic achievement and leadership in the program.
May graduates Amanda Adams and Vanessa Phelps and August graduates Shannon Boyd, Peter Gomes, Melanie Ward and William Ward earned academic achievement honors. Lewis Alexander was recognized with two awards: outstanding MBA tutor award and student MVP.
Student members of Appalachian's Executive Impact club, a student organization for MBA students, were also recognized. Executive Impact officers Kaylen Kent, Katherine Horvath, Morgan Thomasson, Jack Sales and Kevin Hawley earned awards. Faculty Advisor Darin Hodges presented the Executive Impact awards.
Professor of Computer Information Systems and Supply Chain Management Dinesh Dave earned the 2016 outstanding graduate faculty award.
