Dr. Lorilee Medders has been named honors program director for the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University, effective July 1, 2018.
Medders joined Appalachian's faculty in the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance in 2017 as the Joseph F. Freeman Distinguished Professor of Insurance.

Medders brings to the honors program extensive experience guiding undergraduate and graduate research from her tenures at Georgia State University, Georgia Southern University and Florida State University. She earned Florida State's honors thesis mentor award in 2017. Recently, Medders founded a research cluster as part of Appalachian State University's Brantley Risk and Insurance Center.
In her new role, Medders will be responsible for recruitment, enrollment, advising, curriculum development and assessment and will work closely with the university honors program to implement strategic change. Medders will also continue to serve as the Freeman Professor and teach courses in the Walker College's Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance.
Medders earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in Business Administration – Risk and Insurance from Georgia State University.
