In the Media: Business Career Services Director Amy Odom featured in Boone Area Chamber article

In a recent story titled “Values in Motion," the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce spotlighted Walker College of Business staff member Amy Odom, executive director of Business Career Services, and her work with their group Watauga Women in Leadership (WWIL).

WWIL aims to empower High Country women in business and leadership at any stage of their careers and presents events that support them. Amy Odom is in the business of helping others, too.

The article highlights Odom as a long-time advocate for student development, whose leadership in an annual professional clothing drive reflects the mission of WWIL, according to author Megan Biddix.

The recently completed drive supports the Polished Peacock Boutique, a campus resource offering free professional attire to students preparing for interviews, career fairs, and networking events.

“This effort embodies the spirit of WWIL,” said Lindsay Cook, Director of Operations at the Boone Area Chamber and WWIL liaison. “Amy’s work helps students step into leadership before they even walk into their first interview.”

Now in its third year, the clothing drive has grown through cross-campus collaboration and continues to serve students of all majors. As Odom shared, “It’s about investing in the next generation of leaders — especially young women — and helping them feel confident and prepared.”

As executive director of business career services,  Odom leads a dedicated team of staff members to cultivate aspiring business leaders by delivering professional, leadership, and career development opportunities.
