In a recent article, Car “Health” Insurance: Why It Doesn’t Exist, published September 20 by World Today News, Dr. David Marlett explains why the concept of covering routine maintenance alongside repairs hasn’t become a common practice in the insurance industry.
Insurance companies are hesitant to cover smaller losses, according to Marlett. “They have to pay expenses like labor and documentation, which end up exceeding the cost of claims that are in the low hundreds,” he said.
Marlett holds the Independent Insurance Agents of NC Insurance Professorship and is managing director of the Brantley Risk & Insurance Center. Learn more about David Marlett.
