Meet the banks: the first of 3-part industry night will bring 13 partners to Peacock Hall on September 10

According to staff from the Walker College's Business Career Services Office and the NC Bankers Association, Appalachian State University students who have never considered a banking career should consider it.

The two organizations are coming together to share why App State non-finance majors may find just the right career opportunities in the banking industries, even if they hadn't considered them before.

Students of all majors are invited to join the Banking & Financial Services Industry night, the first of three-part series this fall, on Tuesday, September 10, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of Peacock Hall.

The events feature a 45-minute Q&A session and a 45-minute networking opportunity designed to give students an in-depth look at the industry.

The first 75 students will receive free pizza, soft drinks, and giveaways. All attendees will get a head-start on considering their career paths.

"Students will have a chance to chat with executives from large, mid-size, and community banks across North Carolina to discuss the benefits and numerous career paths that banking offers," said Jackie Garner, associate director for business career services, who is helping coordinate the event. "This relaxed event doesn’t require professional attire, but if you’re seeking job or internship opportunities, please bring copies of your resume."

In addition to finding the NC Banker's Association on-site, students will find representatives from the following banks attending:

  • Blueharbor
  • Carter Bank & Trust
  • Fifth Third
  • First Horizon
  • First National Bank
  • Home Trust
  • LifeStore
  • M & F Bank
  • North State
  • Piedmont Federal
  • Peoples Bank
  • United Community

There is no registration required. Some courses offer credit for attendance; students should check with their professors.
