More 'Business Connections' than usual will made October 6

A record number of employers are set to attend Walker Business Connections — Appalachian State University's premiere career fair for business students — on Thursday, October 6.

The career fair will take place on the floor of the Holmes Convocation Center from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., and all students majoring in business are invited to attend.

In pursuit of its mission to deliver transformational educational experiences, the Walker College of Business emphasizes the importance of connecting industry professionals with students on campus. Walker Business Connections is one of many ways the college does just that.

Jackie Garner, assistant director of business career services and event coordinator, said there are a few reasons why students will get to meet so many employers in one day this year.

"Many organizations that were under hiring freezes during the pandemic are back to hiring at 100%," said Garner. "Plus, there are 27 new companies attending Business Connections that haven't recruited with us before!"

Garner said she expects more than 120 employers on site for the event, aiming to provide full-time careers, part-time work, internship opportunities and, in some cases, international jobs to App State business majors.
