Brantley Risk & Insurance Center – The North Carolina Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NCAMIC) recently awarded scholarships to Appalachian State University (AppState) Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) majors. In a ceremony on campus in conjunction with the Gamma Iota Sigma Open House, 2016 NCAMIC President Lisa Snyder of Alamance Farmers Mutual Insurance, and Secretary Karen Morris of Alamance Farmers Mutual Insurance presented AppState students Ana Silverstein and Cecilia Yanez each with a $2,500 scholarship. This is the third year that NCAMIC has awarded scholarships to AppState RMI majors. Silverstein will intern with ECM Insurance Solutions in Charlotte, NC for summer 2016, and Yanez will intern with Wells Fargo Insurance Services.
“NCAMIC is very proud to partner with Appalachian State University’s Risk Management and Insurance program in the development of industry leaders,” said NCAMIC’s Lisa Snyder. “The caliber of all scholarship applicants speaks volumes about the quality of instruction provided by Appalachian State University and the dedication of its students. It has been exciting to watch both current and past scholarship recipients as they complete their degrees and are launched, fully prepared, into fulfilling careers in risk management.”
NCAMIC members also provide financial assistance for students in the AppState International Insurance Markets class who travel to Bermuda each May.
