Jackie Garner, associate director of employer relations and student programming in the Walker College of Business' Career Services Office, has been named the 4 Under 40 Education Professional Awardee by the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce.
Garner received the award during the chamber's 10th Annual 4 Under 40 Awards on Wednesday, March 18, at the Appalachian Theatre.
Garner was one of five winners and 16 finalists honored, selected from nominees across the High Country.

The 4 Under 40 Awards honor individuals who demonstrate exceptional professional achievement, community engagement, and leadership potential.
Jackie Garner
At the Walker College, Garner develops and maintains strong relationships with employer partners who actively recruit students for internships and full-time positions. She oversees the planning and execution of all recruiting events for the college and serves as an advisor to the Women of Walker program. She is a Boone native and brings "the kind of energy that puts students and community partners immediately at ease." She serves on the Girls on the Run Advisory Board, participates in WYN Festival of Trees, and has completed both Watauga Leadership Institute cohorts. Garner is a two-time App State graduate, earning her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and her Master's degree in Higher Education. The majority of her research in graduate school was focused on student success and engagement.
