Randy Edwards named vice chancellor for university advancement at Appalachian

Professor of accounting and former Walker College of Business dean Randy Edwards has been named vice chancellor for university advancement at Appalachian State University.  

In a memo to university faculty and staff, Appalachian Chancellor Sheri Everts shared that "no stranger to the Appalachian Community, he brings a balanced leadership style, broad institutional knowledge, business acumen and the ability to guide and motivate his staff."

Edwards has served as interim vice chancellor for university advancement during the past nine months.

As vice chancellor for university advancement, Edwards will oversee development operations, the Appalachian State University Foundation Inc. and Alumni Affairs.

Before assuming the duties of interim vice chancellor, Edwards served two years as vice chancellor and chief of staff. He was dean of the Walker College of Business for nine years and chair of the Department of Accounting for 13 years. He joined the business faculty in 1981. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting at Appalachian in 1977 and 1978, respectively.
