The Outreach and Engagement Subcommittee of Appalachian’s Sustainability Council is pleased to announce a new grants program to provide funding support and recognition for faculty and staff who are engaging with the community on issues of sustainability.
They will select three to four projects for support with average awards of $500-$1000 each. Proposed projects should accomplish one or more of the following objectives:
- Work with a community audience/partner to advance sustainability goals
- Deepen the community audience’s/partner’s understanding of sustainability, including the social equity and justice dimensions, environmental dimensions, and/or economic dimensions
- Inspire the community audience/partner to participate in the social, environmental, and/or economic transformations that help create sustainable communities
Awardees will be recognized at the Sustainability Council’s April meeting, and will be required to present their project at the biannual Sustainability Outreach Forum in November 2016.
