Three Walker College professors to present business research at Research and Creative Activity event

The Research and Creative Activity event on Thursday, September 26 has been postponed to a later date.

Three faculty members from the Walker College of Business will present their research during Appalachian State University's sixth annual Research and Creative Activity event on Thursday, September 26.

The Office of Research and Innovation, with support from the Hayes School of Music and University Libraries, will present the event in the Broyhill Music Center.

During the 4:10 - 5:35 p.m. session, Dr. Charlie Chen, professor of computer information systems, will present The Role of Entrepreneurial Competencies and AI Self-Efficacy in Enhancing Entrepreneurial Resilience Amidst Environmental Uncertainty, and Dr. Shishir Shakya, assistant professor of economics, will present The impact of repealing Certificate-of-Need laws on healthcare spending: A causal analysis. 

Research entitled Artificial Intelligence in Autonomous Vehicles (AVs): Market potentiality, consumers’ readiness, and ethical challengesfrom Dr. Jason Xiong, an associate professor of computer information systems and the Walker College's Associate Dean for Advanced Studies in Business, will be displayed by poster.

According to the event website, "this event celebrates all research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of App State faculty and staff."

Light refreshments will be served by Grandview Catering & Events.

About Faculty Research in the Walker College of Business

The Walker College faculty produces and disseminates extensive research through academic and professional communities. In the last five years, faculty have published 543 peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles, 160 conference proceedings, and made 533 conference and professional presentations. In total, faculty have produced 1,175 intellectual contributions in the last five years. Approximately 520 intellectual contributions were made in basic or discovery research, 540 in applied or integrative research, and 115 contributions in teaching and learning research.
