Walker College alumnus and Appalachian trustee rings opening bell at NASDAQ

Appalachian State University Trustee Bob Hatley rang the opening bell at the Nasdaq December 5, 2016. Hatley is president and CEO of Paragon Bank, which he founded in 1999.

Under Hatley's leadership, the company has grown from $15 million in assets in 1999 to more than $1.3 billion.

A native of Concord, Hatley received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration (BSBA) from the Walker College of Business and previously served on the university's Board of Visitors.
