Each year, the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) sponsors student case competition for university students from around the world to provide an opportunity for students to interpret, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and communicate a solution to a management accounting problem.
Walker College of Business Assistant Professor of Accounting Kim Zahller, along with University of Colorado Colorado Springs' Margaret Beranek, co-wrote a case that was selected for the 2018 IMA student case competition.
Student teams are invited to submit their analysis in both written and presentation format by February 2.
No faculty involvement is allowed, and teams must be comprised of at least 50% undergraduates and exclude PhD students. Four finalist teams will be notified in May 2018 and those teams will travel to the Annual IMA Conference and Expo in Indianapolis, IN to will present their analysis and respond to questions from a panel of judges.
Finalist teams will receive $3,000, and the winning team will receive an additional $2,000.
