Walker College Business Advisory Council (BAC) member Patrick Getzen has been named chief data and analytics officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBSNC) of North Carolina.
Getzen began his new role on February 1, 2018. Previously having served as BCBSNC's chief actuary, Getzen will be the first in the North Carolina group to fill the role of chief data and analytics officer.
Blue Cross Blue Shield has grown in its utilization of big data since having begun the Blue Cross Blue Shield Axis® (BCBS Axis®) in 2015. According to their site, the work through BCBS Axis® enables richer analytics, sharper insights and smarter solutions to advance the quality and affordability of care.
Getzen has served as an Appalachian BAC member since 2016 and previously served as a member of Appalachian's Brantley Risk & Insurance Center.
