Walker College of Business welcomes alumnus academic advisor

Richard "Rick" Wurth has been named an academic advisor in the Walker College of Business Undergraduate Advising Center at Appalachian State University.

Wurth is an alumnus of the Walker College of Business, having graduated with a double major in Finance and Risk Management in 2014.

While serving as one of the university's first transfer mentors, guiding new transfer students to success at Appalachian, Wurth discovered a "zeal for academia and anything relating to our students." He completed a Master of Arts in College Student Development with a concentration in Student Affairs in May 2017.

While earning his master's degree, Wurth served in transfer services, career services, student conduct and in the advising of student athletes.

"Rick's excitement and passion to help students attain success in the Walker College and toward their academic, personal and professional goals fits in perfectly with our center's mission and commitment to serve students," said Director of Undergraduate Advising Sheryl Kane. "Additionally, Rick brings many years of business experience to share with our office and students; this combination of interests and experiences will enrich our center and enhance the successes and development of our students."
