AACSB, the accrediting body for Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business, has shared a report on how business schools are scaling Artificial Intelligence (AI), with App State named as a good example.
In A Framework for Artificial Intelligence in Business Education, the Walker College is referenced alongside other business schools, including MIT Sloan, UC Berkeley Haas, Carnegie Mellon Tepper, and UCLA Anderson, acknowledging App State’s approach to AI-integrated business education.
The report highlights the Walker College’s clear, campus-aligned strategy for embedding artificial intelligence into degree programs, including shared core coursework and focused pathways. It also cites the college’s emphasis on faculty development through regular conversations about classroom AI use and practical application workshops, as well as attention to ethical considerations within a coordinated, institution-wide AI strategy. The Walker College is referenced in the report as an example of a clear, scalable, and institutionally aligned approach.
The college is integrating AI across the business curriculum, including launching AI tracks in its MBA, and MS in Applied Data Analytics programs and undergraduate AI concentrations in computer information systems and cybersecurity beginning Fall 2026.
The report frames AI integration around critical themes: infrastructure, democratization, domain applications, faculty development, ethics, partnerships, pedagogy and leadership.
“Our approach has been intentional: align AI integration with university priorities, embed it across the graduate curriculum, and connect it directly to workforce relevance and responsible use," said Dr. Jason Xiong, associate dean for advanced studies in business. “Rather than pursuing isolated innovation, we’ve focused on building a coherent, scalable model that integrates teaching, research, and external engagement.”
