Walker College hosts sports analytics educator

The Walker College of Business hosted Dr. David Schrader, a sports analytics educator from Teradata University Network, on the campus of Appalachian State University November 13-14.

Dr. Schrader met with key groups about his experience with business analytics and opportunities that exist in the field of sports analytics and presented a public session for students and community members.

Dr. Schrader serves as a board member of the Teradata University Network, and, through this role, helps universities develop curriculum in data analytics programs and teaches companies to gain a competitive edge by using technology.

Dr. Schrader has 24 years of experience as a marketing and advanced development software engineering director at Teradata, where he was responsible for marketing the Teradata® Big Data initiative. Before that, he led the marketing of Teradata's Active Intelligence real-time data warehousing initiatives. He held engineering management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and at Servio Logic. Dr. Schrader earned Ph.D. in computer science from Purdue University.
